Microsoft Game Studios just released its “blockbuster” lineup for 2008. Most of the titles we have already heard of, and are going crazy while we anticipate their release, such as Gears of War 2, and Fable 2. But they also released news of a new Banjo and Kazooie game, as well as another Viva Pinata game. Other titles mentioned were Too Human, and Ninja Gaiden II which most of us should have heard about by now. They also mentioned a new penny arcade game On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One. Read the full story here.

Well they are finally here, and they were so worth the wait and the ten bucks. First off Blackout is just like Lockout, barring visual and some minor tweaks. All the old jumps are there, minus shortcut from elbow to snipe two, along with some new ones. Avalanche is one of the most fun objective based maps I have plaid on yet. That is about all it is though, it’s a fun CTF map or Assault map, maybe a BTB map as well. It is a huge map with lots of fun things to do on it, like race the mongoose around, or take vehicles off the many man cannons. Lastly Ghost Town, which is kind of the throw away map to me. The few games I plaid on it weren’t any fun, everything seems really random, and out of place. Maybe an infection game would hold some amusement, but that’s about it |

The most recent weekly update from Bungie was huge. I’ll try to sum it all up as quickly as I can, or you can read it for yourself here. First thing they talked about MLG Meadowlands, not much news there other than the plug for the scrimmage on Blackout today. Next they talk about the Legendary maps, and their promotions for it. Which will include a link to 30 seconds of video of gameplay on Avalanche, as well as the news that any one that buys the maps and plays any game on the map, custom or match made, will get a 4 month subscription to Bungie pro for four months? Also and I quote “we are not currently aware of any plans to make these maps available for free.” I realize that’s probably just a clever ploy to get money. New may playlist updates will include a Team Snipes playlist for double exp, as well as recurring Griffbal, and “secret” gametypes. S.W.A.T. will be added to ranked playlist with MLG. They’re trying to deal with matchmaking clutter by getting rid of search options on BTB such as extending matches to search within 15 levels, instead of ten. Other clutter will be dealt with by getting rid of mixed party restrictions. Oh and the last bomb they dropped, once again a clever “Buy our maps or suffer the consequences” kick in the balls, was the fact that if you do not have them, there will be no S.W.A.T. for you, or any other double exp weekends, except for Griffball.
