When it comes to all “wars” or arguments, people always need to take sides. For this format war, it seems that HDDVD has taken a MAJOR blow this time. Warner Bros. decided to back up Blu-Ray instead of HDDVD. Warner Bros. is the biggest dvd maker too, so it’s going to be hell when it comes down to finalizing which format will “win” this time around.

For some reason, I thought there could be a co-existance with the two formats, but more and more people are taking sides and the only people who really lose are the consumers. Since people take sides, they’re only going to cause certain people to buy more in order to enjoy quality for everything. In a way it makes it a hard situation though. Regular dvds are still made for now when there’s a separate format for it, so paying for High Definition is a choice. Once DVDs become truly out-of-date, the question of who made the right decision will pay. Let’s just hope that whatever you choose isn’t the next betamax.

Microsoft obviously supports HDDVD, but it seems more people are jumping ship for Blu-ray.
